Bjorn Freeman-Benson, PhD, is a partner in the Pacific Northwest practice of Fortium Partners. Freeman-Benson is a software psychologist with an optimistic outlook on software complexity, understanding development needs and problems to create powerful applications. He has led teams while working on tools for collaborative design, real-time software analytics, compilers for reconfigurable hardware, dynamic page generation for e-commerce, large scale simulations, open source community and many other products to generate amazing digital experiences. In addition to Fortium, Freeman-Benson is the CTO for InVisionApp Inc., the world’s leading platform for collaborative digital product design, where he was responsible for leading the 100% remote team of engineers. Before InVisionApp, he was the senior vice president of engineering at New Relic, an application performance monitoring company, where he built the team from three people to 300 people within a five-year period, and also helped lead the company through an IPO. Earlier in his career, Freeman-Benson held a number of technology leadership and engineering roles at companies like Amazon, Object Technology International (OTI), the Eclipse Foundation, Rational Software and other small startups. He has also consulted for several companies including Samsung and Microsoft. Freeman-Benson holds a Bachelor of Computer Science, a Master’s of Computer Science and a Ph.D. of Computer Science from the University of Washington.
