José integrates business and technology strategies as he shapes an IT vision for the enterprise. He stewards a secure and scalable infrastructure while moving with speed to implement enhanced cloud systems and applications. His engineering credentials set the foundation for his commitment to operational excellence. José champions digital transformation initiatives built to improve the customer experience, crafting the technology roadmap to provide a competitive advantage in development of new products and client engagement. With a laser focus on strong financial performance, José takes a pro-active stance on mitigating cybersecurity, regulatory, and risk management issues. His leadership experience includes managing sizable global teams and budgets while advancing workplace modernization and strategic outsourcing programs. He is committed to developing next generation talent with an aptitude for digital innovation.

As a CIO, José led technology strategy and operations designed to drive profitability, modernization and sustainability. He drove process improvements and critical initiatives in application development, enterprise architecture, and business intelligence. José has prioritized strong IT governance, compliance, and standards. His interest in innovation fueled study of emerging technologies and alignment of advanced technology to enable key corporate initiatives. A director of Citizens Energy Group, a public charitable trust providing broad-based utility services, José contributes his perspective on IT and customer experience matters while ensuring that the regulated utility meets requirements of state and federal agencies including the U.S. EPA.

José studied engineering at the highly rated George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He continued his professional development throughout his career and attended an advanced management program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. A volunteer leader in the community, José has served on the board of Nextech, which creates equitable access to computer science curriculum and experiences for all K-12 Indiana students, and on the advisory board of TechPoint, the growth initiative for Indiana’s digital innovation economy. In 2021, he was named CIO of the Year by the Indianapolis Business Journal. José enjoys travel, hiking, biking, and exploring new cultures.
