Larry Winkelman is a partner in the Chicago practice of Fortium Partners. He brings more than 30 years of experience as a high-profile CIO, CTO and executive advisor, with a solid track record of driving operational and financial business results for large public enterprises as well as small and medium-sized businesses. Early in his career, Winkelman graduated from the General Electric Manufacturing Leadership Program and then commenced a 22-year career at General Electric and GE Capital, where he rapidly advanced to divisional CIO and CTO positions and was consistently recognized for exceptional contribution. As CTO of an acquired GE Capital subsidiary, he led the enterprise-wide process reengineering effort that resulted in returning the business to 20% ROE from breakeven. As CIO at a consumer finance business he deployed a scalable technology architecture, enabling 50% revenue CAGR and 75% profit CAGR while integrating 12 acquisitions. After leaving GE, he held a turnaround CIO position in Sanwa Business Credit Corp. where he deployed a market leading risk management system. After Sanwa, Larry joined Alternative Resources Corp. (NASDAQ: ALRC) where he successfully deployed an ERP system that was critical to the financial turnaround of the business. Prior to joining Fortium, Winkelman served as president of a business consultancy that placed executives into difficult problem-solving situations such as failed technology initiatives, business process improvement and IT business alignment. Winkelman is an honors graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
